President's Message
My Fellow Members,
Welcome back. I hope you and your families had a wonderful summer and I look forward to
seeing you all at our meeting on September 11th.
Over the summer, the annual audit and annual Associate Membership meetings took place and
both went very well. It was nice to see those Associate Members who came, and I encourage all
to continue to attend meetings and remain active.
This month’s educational feature will be on Co-generation and On-site Energy Solutions, and will
be presented by Mr. Bruce Beckwith of RSR Systems.
There is a vacancy on the Board of Directors with a term ending in 2010. We will be accepting
nominations for this position at the September meeting, to be voted on at the October meeting.
I would like to remind everyone that we will hold our Annual Scholarship drawing at our
September meeting. We will be awarding three scholarships this year, and you must be present
in order for your child to be eligible.
For all of the golfers out there, the New York Building Managers’ Association will be holding our
Annual Golf Outing on Tuesday, September 23rd at the River Vale Country Club, in River Vale,
NJ. If you need tickets please give Chairman Seamus Burke a call at (201) 391-9104.
The NYBMA Grand Ball Committee is proud to announce that this year’s Ladies’ Night Dinner
Dance will be held on October 17th at Moran’s Restaurant in Manhattan. This wonderful evening
will include a comedy performance as well as musical entertainment. Please call Grand Ball

Please remember that the order of dress at all of our meetings is jacket and tie, and after the
meeting there is a one hour open bar for socializing and networking.

Regular member Mr. Brendan Higgins brother recently passed away back home in Ireland. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Brendan and his family.
Regular member Mr. Marvin Diaz’s mother has passed away. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Marvin and his family.
Mr. Larry Abrams from Apex Uniforms father has recently passed away. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Larry and his family.
On a brighter note, Past President Mr. Michael Leahy’s daughter, Mairead, has recently passed her state certification exam and is now a registered nurse. Congratulations Mairead!
Minutes of the NYBMA Meeting on June 12th, 2008
President William Waldren called the meeting
to order at 7:54 pm.
Chaplain Sham Hosein led the Invocation.
Pro-Temp Sergeant-at-Arms Enrique Alana
led the Pledge of Allegiance.
A roll call of officers showed all present.
Pro-Temp Barry Riordan as Treasurer.
President William Waldren welcomed all Past
Presidents, Life Members, Associate Members
and Guests.
Secretary Clinton Straub read the minutes
from the May 8th 2008 Regular meeting.
A motion to accept the minutes as read by
Barry Riordan seconded by German Negron.
Unanimously approved.
Secretary Clinton Straub read the minutes
from the June 3rd 2008 Board of Directors
meeting.
A motion to accept the minutes as read by Igor
Bulic seconded by Seamus Burke.
Unanimously approved.
A motion made by Secretary Clinton Straub
for the new Vice President Sean Wade to look
into all Associate Members who have not
responded to the current Vice President Scott
Casazza and to report back to the Board of
Directors was seconded by James Higgins.
Unanimously approved.
A motion was made by Vice President Scott
Casazza to transfer some monies from the
Grand Ball account to the Life and Education account was seconded by Zef Smajlaj.
Unanimously approved.
Membership report
Vincent Conigliaro has applied for membership
and will be investigated forthwith.
Jose Diaz has made his third meeting and
was voted on tonight. It was unanimous by
hand vote Mr. Diaz will be initiated at our
September meeting.
Golf
Chairman Seamus Burke reported the Golf
Outing will be on September 23 at the River
Vale Country Club in River Vale, NJ. Please
order your tickets as soon as possible. They
will go fast and it is expected to be a great
event. If you have any questions please contact

Treasurer and Financial Secretaries’ Reports

Good New, Sickness and Distress
Vice President Scott Casazza reported. Micki
Smith of Akam Associates husband, David
Smith, has passed away. A moment of silence
was held in his honor
Our own Larry Williams has gotten engaged to
his lovely girlfriend. Congratulations Larry!!
Barry Riordan and his wife have celebrated
15 years of marriage this month. Congratulations!!!

President William Waldren reported Sean
Wade is working diligently on getting us up
and running smoothly. And will have more to
report at our next meeting in September.
Insurance
Our insurance representative Scott Shultz and
his brother Bruce were present and thanked
the association for our business, and were
here to answer any questions from members.
Bils & Com unica tions
President Waldren reported a communication
from Mr. Irwin Berger thanking our Association
for the wonderful basket we sent at his time in
the hospital.
A check for $400 was sent to the Incarnations
Children Center that was donated from the
last four 50/50 winners.
A motion was made by Seamus Burke to
authorize the President to pay the insurance
bills of $1,840.00 and $2,276.50, seconded by
Larry Williams.
A motion made by Zef Smajlaj to pay July
and August insurance bills was seconded by
German Negron.
Old Business
President Waldren thanked Mr. Paul Lecei
for the wonderful pictures he took and made
prints of. Thank you Mr. Lecei!!!
Zef Smajlaj asked the members for a round
of applause for our President Mr. William
Waldren for his commitiment for the last two
years as President. Thank You Mr. Waldren for
everything you have done for our Association!!
New Business
Mr. Seamus Burke announced Quiz Night at
the Kinsale Tavern for the Pediatric Brain
Tumor Foundation. This event will take place
on June 16th, 2008. Please do what you can to
help these children.

the Dias.
Barry Riordan was asked to be Pro-Temp
Secretary
Past President Michael Leahy swore in the
following members of the Executive Board.
Enrique Alan escorted Clinton Straub to be
initiated as Secretary. Clinton Straub was
sworn in by Past President Michael Leahy.
Mr. Alana escorted Mr. Robert Andrzejewski
to be initiated as Financial Secretary and was
sworn in by Past President. Michael Leahy
Mr. Alana escorted James Higgins to be
Treasurer was sworn in by Past President
Michael Leahy.
Mr. Sean Wade will be sworn in at the
September meeting.
Mr. Alana escorted Scott Casazza to be sworn
as President, and was sworn in by Past
President Michael Leahy.
Congratulations to all and thank you!!
President Casazza swore in the following
members to the Board of Directors: Paul
Lecei, Larry Williams, German Negron, Gus
Nascimento, Tibor Szabo and Ion Scutaru.
Robert Medina will be sworn in at the next
regular meeting in September.
In September there will be one open seat on
the Board of Director’s term ending 2010.
President Scott Casazza announced all new
Committee Chairmen and urged all new
and/or old members to get involved and join
a committee.
Past President Michael Leahy thanked the Dias
for a great job done this year and is looking
forward to the coming year.
50/50
The 50/50 was held. $220.00 was donated
by the Padded Wagon to the Incarnations
Childrens Center.
A motion to adjourn the meeting by Past
President William Waldren seconded by Larry
Williams. Unanimously Approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 PM.
